All power systems require a monitoring / switching station to transfer the electrical load during an emergency situation. This monitoring station continually searches for the power source that provides the most reliable electrical output. Kohler transfer switches will monitor all power sources when electricity is supplied from two or more utilities, or a standby power system.
When voltage from the normal power source drops below a preset minimum level, the transfer switch will connect the load to the back-up utility or the on-site power system. When transferring the load to a standby power system, the transfer switch automatically activates the starting circuits of the generator and monitors its output until the load transfer can be completed without further loss of line power. Since a transfer switch is powered by the source to which the load will be connected, proper voltage is assured when the transfer takes place.
Kohler transfer switches ensure reliable power source switching in any emergency situation. They're part of the complete Kohler Power System, and are available with a full complement of accessories. Transfer switches provide reliable protection for communication systems, farms, airports, highrise structures, theatres and sporting facilities, hospitals and nursing homes, and every other facility that requires a constant source of electricity.
